Cameroon’s former Middlesbrough striker Joseph-Desire Job has joined Sedan on a free transfer after a trial, the Ligue 1 club said on Tuesday. The former Olympique Lyon, Lens and Middlesbrough player, 28, signed for one year with an option for another year.
Job left Middlesbrough during the 2005/6 season for a year-long loan at Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad, having found his first-team opportunities restricted at the Riverside. His contract expired this summer and he had been training with Premiership newcomers Watford.
The Lyon-born forward chose to represent the country of his father’s birth over France after impressing as a youngster at Lyon before moving to Racing Club Lens. He joined Middlesbrough in 2000 for £3 million and – after being farmed out for a season at Metz back in France – scored 19 goals in 94 games for Boro.
Job had found his route to the starting eleven blocked after the signings of Mark Viduka, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Yakubu Aiyegbeni by former boss Steve McLaren.
