GEREMI would be welcome back at the Riverside any time, manager Steve McClaren has admitted – but he doesn’t expect the Cameroon international to quit Stamford Bridge. Newspaper stories this week linked the flamboyant midfielder with a return to Teesside and while McClaren is a big admirer of his talents, he admits the reports made him smile.
« Geremi had a tremendous season for us last year and was a fans’ favourite during his loan spell, » he said.
« As everyone knows, we tried to bring him here on a permanent basis last summer but it was not to be.
« If there was any opportunity that we could bring him back here we would be delighted but I don’t know how it could happen because he’s a big part of the set-up at Chelsea now.
« I read the press stories about that one with a smile on my face but it’s all just speculation. »
