Marc Vivien Foe is relishing the chance to play at Old Trafford and pit his skills against Roy Keane and Paul Scholes. Cameroon international, Marc Vivien Foe has scored seven goals since he grabbed his season’s opener at Sunderland on the 9th December. And the midfielder would love to add to that tally at Old Trafford on Sunday.
It is twenty-nine years since the Blues left Old Trafford with a win after Dennis Law had returned to his former club to back heel the goal that gave City a 1-0 win.
The Blues haven’t achieved the League « double » over their Manchester rivals since the 1969/70 season. And City’s on loan midfielder knows that he and his teammates face a tough challenge to write their own piece of derby history.
« I have played at Old Trafford before and it is a great stadium, it will be a challenge for us to win there, » said the man who nearly joined Manchester United at one time.
« I feel as if I am getting on top of my game now. It was difficult at the start of my time here but I am really enjoying it now. »
« I am on loan until the end of the season and would like to stay but I am not thinking about that I know Kevin Keegan will find a solution. »
« Three points would be a great job for us. The derby is a different game for everyone involved and of course for the fans. We will have to work hard in this game after the win in the Maine Road derby. We will have to be careful. »
Roy Keane is back in the side after missing the Maine Road derby to team up with Paul Scholes. And Marc Vivien Foe believes that the presence of those two players will help his own game.
« Paul Scholes is a good player, he is fast and intelligent and I know I will have to be careful of him. David Beckham and Roy Keane are due back in the side and I believe it is better for me that they are playing on Sunday. »
« It will be more enjoyable and help me raise my game. I have played against Roy Keane before and it will be important to match his energy and commitment. He is hard and strong and doesn’t think about anyone else. He plays to win. »
« We will have to have the same mentality on Sunday to win and indeed for the rest of the season as consistency has been our biggest problem. »
