Samuel Eto’o is proving him self as the top class striker with Barca this season. His 14 goals so far make him the league top scorer, but he’s not surprised by his impressive performance. He reckons that playing for Barca is a very different experience from playing with his former club Mallorca: « what I did in Mallorca was very complicated. You have to take into account that we were a small team but we did great things like playing and winning a Cup final.
It’s much more difficult playing in a team like that, with all due respect, than for Barca. That’s why I’m not surprised by the standard of the Barca Eto’o. I don’t mind the pressure of being the club’s only out and out striker and i feel my signing has really helped the team ».
Teamwork the key
However, the Cameroon striker is aware than the team has had a dip in form of late though he believes he can put his finger on the problem: « We’ve got a great opportunity to make a real impact, and if we play with commitment, I’m sure that we won’t have any problems. The fact that I’m scoring the goals isn’t the most important thing it’s all down to teamwork, we’re a group of players who work hard and are looking for success. The most important thing is that we don’t relax and lose our concentration ».
Eto’o went on: « sure, we’ve lost a bit of zip in the last few games, but I’m confident we’ll get that back, if it’s on Saturday against Racing then all the better.
