Djemba-Djemba admits United is a step up in class. He has admitted that playing in the English Premiership is a bigger challenge than he first thought. « Everything is more difficult here, » admitted the Cameroon international. « It is faster and harder and the level of aggression is also a lot higher. »
Djemba-Djemba, who moved to Manchester United from French side Nantes, has played in seven games for his new club, scoring his first goal in their 5-0 thrashing of Greek side Panathinaikos in the Uefa Champions League.
But he received a lot of media attention after the season-opening Charity Shield match.
The midfielder was fouled by Arsenal defender Sol Campbell, who received a $30,000 fine from the English FA for his misconduct.
Djemba-Djemba said that making a good impression with United in the Champions League was a career priority and confessed that they have a lot to do after their shock 2-1 defeat to German side VfB Stuttgart.
« Stuttgart are a strong team you can see that from the Bundesliga table, » Djemba-Djemba said.
« We were over confident [before the game] and were punished because of that. »
Djemba’s immediate challenge would be to play a key role in United’s league tie at Leeds on Saturday.
