Manchester City are believed to have offered Lucien Mettomo to Bordeaux in a bid to push through their move for David Sommeil. The deal for Sommeil has stalled over the proposed schedule of repayments and the demand of bank guarantees from Bordeaux.
Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud has given City a deadline of Tuesday to meet their terms for a deal to be completed or the move will be called off.
City boss Kevin Keegan is keen to sign the highly-rated defender and is ready to intervene to seal his signature by offering Cameroon international Mettomo to the French outfit as replacement for Sommeil.
Should Sommeil complete his move to England, Bordeaux have drawn up a shortlist of replacements for him.
Bordeaux have reportedly made enquiries about Barcelona’s Philippe Christanval, Montpellier’s Nenad Dzodic and Cagliari’s Francois Modesto as they weigh up their options.
