At 8 a.m. this morning, a few hours away from the decisive game against Egypt, the wind is pretty chilly. The temperature hangs at a lowly 10 degrees, we do not believe that we will hit 18 degrees comes game time. Last night proved to be quite eventful at the Lions’s den in El Kantaoui. At 7.30 p.m., all the players left the hotel lobby to go back to their rooms.
Rumour had it that the Minister would pay them a visit, so we were a bit disappointed and thought nothing would happen.
We were wrong. Around 8.30, we are quite surprised to see all the players whisked into a private room at the far end of the lobby, with only the television crew being allowed to be there. Apparently, they did have their date with the minister. It did not take very long, and I personally never saw the Minister. All special correspondents from Cameroonian news outlets were present at the Melia Palace.
The players stayed unusually long chatting in the lobby or surfing the Internet. At 10.30 p.m., Mboma was still surfing. The media crowd stayed put, as it was reported that they might be getting a handshake from the Minister.
