As the countdown to the kick-off of the new football season narrows, most if, if not all clubs have intensified preparations with training sessions and friendly encounters ; with a handful of them played at the weekend.
At the Tiko Town Green Stadium, Tiko United were held to a goalless draw by a Douala based Elite Two club Daga Youngstars. Unisports of Haut Nkam edged Fovu fc of Baham by a goal to nil while Caiman fc of Douala inflicted a three one defeat on the Njalla Quan Sports Academy from Limbe. In the same vane, a mini tournament regrouping some Elite One and Two clubs kicks off this Wednesday at the Reunification stadium in Douala. Sable of Batie and Daga young stars would raise the curtains while Astres FC of Douala and the Njalla Quan Sports Academy would lock horns in the second encounter.
Astres would be playing their first game with Ndombe Bosso as their new head coach after he held his first training session on Tuesday at the annexe of the Reunification stadium in Douala. Quizzed on his familiarity with the players, the technician laughed out claiming he masters the physical and mental abilities of his players and claimed to have worked with some of them while at the helm of Union Sportive of Douala five years ago and recently. The training session equally took place infront of the watchful eyes of supporter of the club who turned to discover the team’s « new look ». Meanwhile supporters of the Bepanda based club, would be holding a meeting this Friday at the « club de Astres », to device means of ushering support to the « Brazilians of Bepanda ».
On the other side of Douala, Caiman fc of Douala resumed training yesterday after their record breaking congress last Sunday in Akwa. The « Banaba Ngando », begin training with 30 players at the Mbappe Leppe Stadium in Douala under the supervision of their coach, Alexandre Belibi. The club’s former president, Benoit Mbangue, is expected to hand in all the training equipment and the club’s gadgets that are with him on Thursday.
