There are indications that more heads might fall in the days ahead, after the sacking of Tonye Tonye Nicholas as head coach of Astres fc of Douala some weeks ago. Reports emanating from the Bepanda based club claim the President and Chairman of the board of Directors, Dieudonné Kamdem, is unhappy with the secretary General of the club, Bruno Kamwa.
According to sources close to Dieudonné Kamdem, the SG, has been taking advantage of the president’s absence, to pass for the post there by taking certain pertinent decisions without the president’s consent. In order to put an end to the « said disorder » reigning at the club, the President General would be cleansing the club by sacking those who have been termed « recalcitrant ». Sources claim the President’s axe would first of all fall on the Secretary General. However, the SG in a telephone interview preferred to remain silent on the issue. All attempts at equally getting to the President were futile.
The administrative wranglings have however not impeded training sessions at the club at Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso has been trying to build a new team spirit amongst his boys. Since his appointment some weeks ago, he watched his first encounter on the bench as head coach of the team when Astres defeated Union Sportive of Douala last Sunday 3 goals to one at the Reunification stadium in Douala.
On the other hand, Tiko United have retained a final list of 25 players ahead the new football season. Amongst them, ten old players have been retained from the group that won the championship last season while 15 new players have been recruited amongst whom are goalkeeper and captain of the Junior Lions, François Beyokol and Akono Effa, all from Canon Sportive of Yaounde, Agbor Ernest from Union of Douala, and the legendary Elvis Mokake from a failed adventure in Morocco. The Samba boys defeated Tonnerre Kalara club of Yaounde last weekend in Yaounde by a goal to nil in one of their friendlies. The team was under scrutiny for ten days by one of the national coaches, Joseph Omog who inspected the team’s level of preparedness ‘’vis à vis’’ continental club competitions.
Equally, the legendary club, Canon Sportive of Yaounde would be holding its extra ordinary assembly on October 17 in the nation’s capital where the would be presenting their players for the next football season. The assembly will equally feature the putting in place of a new executive bureau and a fund raising session.
