Cameroon’s most titled club in the last seven years, Coton Sport Garoua have been eliminated at the 16th finals of the Caf Champions League.
Coton Sport who have failed to record any brilliant performance on the continent were knocked out by minnows, Etoile Brazzavlle of Congo after a one all draw in Brazzaville on Sunday.
The Congolese went through thanks to a one nil awaywin in Garoua.
Reports of Congolese radio monitored in Yaounde stated that Coton Sport clearly dominated their opponents, but were not lucky to get the goals.
Coton Sport had four balls on the goal post and cross bar, before Boya equalised at the 88th minute. Eric Youka had got the curtain raiser against the run ofplay.
The best performance Coton Sport have had on the continent was last year when they reached thesemi-finals of the Caf Cup.
However, Cameroon fans had something to be jubilant about as Fovu Baham and Tonnerre Yaounde went into the next run of the Cup Winners’ Cup and Caf Cupcompetitions respectively.
At home in Douala, Fovu pushed out Citadins Kigali, Rwanda. After a 3-1 win in Kigali, Fovu edged the visitors 1-0 to reach the 8th finals.
Tonnerre Yaounde perpetuated their domination of Derpotivo Mongomo with a 2-1 win away in Equitorial Guinea. Tonnerre won the first game 4-2.
