Ahead of the new football season scheduled to kick off in a forthnight, AS Matelots of and Caiman FC, all clubs from Douala would be organising their various General assembly in the days ahead.
After securing survival last season in the Elite One, AS Matelots of Douala, is preparing to kick start the new football season with a general assembly scheduled to hold on September 23rd at the « Foyer des Amis » in Bepanda Douala. The club is expected to raise funds that would assist the players who have been training twice daily at the Bepanda Omnisports stadium annex.
In the same vane, Caiman FC of Douala would be organising their General Assembly on September 27at the « Salle des Fetes » in Akwa, Douala. The occasion that would witness the official presentation of Claude Adolf Mundi, »Petit Pays » as the new president of the Akwa-based club would be presided over by his Majesty Dine Dika Akwa III and other traditional authorities of the Littoral region. The « Banaba Ngando » have set up their principal goal this season a qualification ticket for top flight football last season.
Union Douala still Doubtful, Tiko United ready
Meanwhile Union sportive of Douala are still in doubt as to their readiness for the start of the football season after they were held to a 1-1 draw by ACAS FC, a local division two side , at the reunification stadium in Douala..The Nassara Kamakai proved much more timid infront of an inexperienced team that put up a brilliant show infront of the 300 man crowd that turned out to watch the encounter.
On the contrary, Tiko United have started making their ambitions clear for the next football season after they recorded another victory in one of their friendly encounter played last weekend at the Tiko Town Green stadium. The Samba boys were two-one winners of the Njalla Quan Sports Academy , another strong contender this season for the Elite two championship. At the end of that encounter the headcoach of Tiko United Gerrard Mbimi sounded optimistic and confident at the level of preparedness of his boys. To him the boys are prepared to go higher heights.
