Germany coach Rudi Voller has admitted that World Cup opponents Saudi Arabia impressed him during their recent 3-2 win over Uruguay.
South Arabia recently ended a run of bad results with a 1-0 win over South Africa after enduring defeats to Brazil, Denmark and Estonia.
And they followed up that win with an even more impressive victory, beating World Cup participants Uruguay 3-2.
And Voller, whose side take on Saudi Arabia in their first World Cup game on June 1, said: « We are very concerned after the good showing of the side against Uruguay and if they play like that in the World Cup, they will cause some upsets.
« What concerns me especially is that they apparently were without nine of their key players for various reasons.
« That makes me wonder whether the side that played in the Gold Cup was their second choice or their Olympic side. They had a completely different approach to the Uruguay game and we have to be prepared for that.
« But I am still confident that we will have a good run in the World Cup and if we want to compete for the title we will have to beat all teams, » he told the German FA site.
