The Ugandan FA has joined Burundi in defecting from the Cecafa group of countries that backed Issa Hayatou in the Fifa presidential race.
It is barely a week since the East and Central African soccer body declared its united support for Hayatou in a statement.
But now Ugandan FA Chairman Dennis Obua has dismissed the statement, saying he wasn’t even in the building when the decision was made.
This runs directly contrary to Cecafa boss Farah Addo’s weekend announcement that the region’s 11 federations bosses had met and vehemently opted to support a fellow African for the top global soccer post.
Obua asserted that Cecafa could not determine the block position on the polls since it was the federations who would gain or lose from the result of Fifa polls next month.
He stated that the Ugandan executive would instead meet soon to decide on whom to back.
