GERMAN outfit Hannover 96 have joined the chase for Vitesse Arnhem’s African attacker Emile Mbamba. The Cameroon ace is reportedly being eyed by several foreign clubs, with a batch of Turkish sides showing an interest.
Hannover have now added their name to the pursuit of the 20-year-old and watched him in action against Excelsior on Sunday.
But the Hannover scouts had a wasted trip as Mbamba played for just 28 minutes before being substituted, although the forward understands his early withdrawal from the contest.
« That was unpleasant but I’m not mad at the trainer, » said Mbamba. « He has clearly explained to me why I was substituted. »
Mbamba will remain in the fray this week when Vitesse tackle Willem II Tilburg in the final game of the season on Thursday as Bob Peeters is injured.
Vitesse have endured a disappointing campaign as they sit just one spot outside the relegation play-off places while Mbamba has contributed a solitary goal in 25 Eredivisie appearances.
Hannover are searching for fresh firepower as key striker Fredi Bobic will be joining Hertha Berlin next season.
