Tottenham have joined the interest in Mallorca striker Samuel Eto’o by offering cash and Ukrainian striker Serhiy Rebrov to the Spanish club.
Glasgow Rangers joined a trio of English clubs trying to sign Cameroon striker Eto’o last month and now the London club are interested.
Leeds United, Bolton and Sunderland have all contacted Mallorca over the former Madrid striker but his agent Willie Mackay said Rangers manager Alex McLeish led the chase last month to sign the forward after watching him in a German friendly against Argentina last week when the African side were very impressive.
But Mallorca rate Eto’o at around £16 million and Leeds in particular are prepared to make a strong offer for the player.
That is likely to be cash-only and Tottenham hope to beat that by offering Rebrov as part of any transfer deal.
