Key to the World Cup Group E match here on Thursday: Will Saudis improve?
Are Cameroon raring to go?
Saudi Arabia were pitiful in their opening match, conceding eight goals to Germany. An expectant nation has told coach Nasser Al-Johar and the players to restore pride, but they could crash to another heavy defeat if they show the same toothless approach against the burly Cameroonians. Former Asian Player of the Year Nawaf Al Temyat hardly touched the ball in the opener – can he show his real colours against Cameroon?
Are Cameroon raring to go?
Cameroon’s pre-tournament preparations were disastrous as a spat over bonuses delayed their flight to Asia and they then took four days to arrive after hitches over flyover permits. They faded against a determined Ireland side, drawing 1-1, and need to show whether they have the energy for a run to the second round of the tournament. Striker Patrick Mboma was on target against the Irish and will expect to add to his tally against a demoralised Saudi defence.
