Cameroon’s German coach Winfried Schafer has said that he is unlikely to make changes to his starting line up for the Indomitable Lions’ game against Saudi Arabia.
« There is no reason to talk about making changes because what happened against Ireland was not the fault of any one particular player, » Schafer said.
« We just didn’t play the way we wanted in that first game and to make changes implies that we are looking for scapegoats. »
Pressure
Schafer said the disappointing 1-1 draw with Ireland was mainly due to the late arrival of the team in Japan.
Apart from Patrick Mboma, who has recovered from his injuries, Cameroon opened the World Cup with the same side that won the African Nations Cup in Mali.
« No player did nothing less than was expected, » Schafer stated.
« All we have to do against Saudi Arabia is to put them under pressure with good finishing.
« My players can do this because now they have the mental fitness and concentration. »
