A source in the Bafana camp has revealed to KickOff.com the starting line-up for tonight’s game against Cameroon.
The source claims that coach Joel Santana plans to play same line-up that started against Ghana on October 15.
Bafana won that game 2-1, with goals from Benni McCarthy and Bernard Parker, although the Thanda Royal Zulu striker came on as a substitute for Siyabonga Nkosi.
Santana made no secret of his belief in the team after the Ghana game, so perhaps the era of experimentation in the Bafana team is coming to an end.
In the post-match press conference in Bloemfontein, Santana said: “We had another good game. We were very secure in defence, the midfielders were very creative, especially Teko Modise and Siphiwe Tshabalala, and the strikers did what they are supposed to do and put the ball in the back of the net.
“We played against a good side, who accelerated the game when they had to, but I thought over the 90 minutes we deserved to win.”
The only change, according to our source, will be in goal. Brian Baloyi started against Ghana, but Kaizer Chiefs star Itumeleng Khune will be between the sticks tonight.
South African starting line-up against Cameroon:
Itumeleng Khune – Siboniso Gaxa, Matthew Booth, Aaron Mokoena (capt), Tsepo Masilela – Teko Modise, Lance Davids, Macbeth Sibaya, Siphiwe Tshabalala – Siyabonga Nkosi, Benedict McCarthy.
