Well built, dark in complexion and smart looking, Ntoupendi Nsangou Rolland is a hidden talent in the making. Born some 19 years ago, the teenager plays for the second division football team, Olympique Mvolye in Yaounde. He has been playing football for the past four years.
His swiftness, agile dribbling skills coupled with instant body swerve make him a source of constant threat to many defenders. Little known, the young player is on the starring track. The love for the game and the team spirit are extraneous factors that led him into the game. He dropped academics for a football career. A career that he began with Espoir Mimboman in Yaounde before progressing to Olympique still in the Yaounde metropolis. Today he is one of the trump cards of the team whose fortune has been dwindling in the first and second divisions. Not only is he a near successful hits man, but a playmaker who can make the goals for the victory of his team. His extra stamina makes him an all round player initiating decisive moves from his goal area into the opponents vital zone. Roland hails from the West Province and he is the seventh child in a family of eleven with three of them posing to be career footballers. One of them Kwotu Kasimi has a precious place in division one side, Sable de Batie, and the other plays for division three side, Social de Yaounde. His family supports him and provides his basic needs. As he says, for now, « We do not gain anything from football. So without our parents we cannot make ends meet. We count mostly on our parents. » His dream is to go to higher heights in football especially professional football. According to coach Akah Messina of Olympic Mvolye, Roland is a disciplined player and willing to learn. He said in his first match in division two, he scored a goal. « This gives the impression that it is a good start because not anybody can do that. » He added. Coach Messina believes that Roland has a great career before him if he continues to work hard.
