Former African Footballer of the Year Patrick Mboma is back in the Cameroon squad for the first time since the World Cup.
He has been included in the 24-man squad for a tournament in Tunisia next week.
Coach Winfried Schafer recalled the striker, who now playes in Japan, as well as Nicolas Alnoudji from French club Bastia after an illness kept him out of the squad for last month’s defeat to Ivory Coast.
Three uncapped players have been called up for the first time.
Midfielders Justice Wamfor from Genk and Valery Mezague from Montpellier, and Falemi Ngassam, a midfielder with Steaua Bucharest who was born in Romania but whose father comes from Cameroon.
Cameroon play Madagascar next Thursday in the first game of the tournament which also involves Ghana and Tunisia. next Thursday.
