BERLIN, Dec 11 – Cameroon defender Raymond Kalla of Bundesliga side VfL Bochum faces a sanction for breaching anti-doping rules, the German Football Association (DFB) said on Thursday.
The DFB said it had launched a disciplinary investigation after finding out following a doping control after a league game in October that Kalla had taken medicine that is not on the banned list but has to be declared.
Kalla should have informed the ruling body 72 hours before the game that he was taking the medicine but failed to do so, the DFB said in a statement.
VfL Bochum said Kalla had taken the anti-inflammatory drug triamcinolone which had been prescribed to him by his private doctor to treat back pain.
The club said it expected the player would be suspended for three games but the DFB said no decision on a possible sanction had been taken yet.
