Clinton Njie was called up by manager Clarence Seedorf despite being wounded last Sunday while playing at his club’s league game at Lyon, France. It was an important encounter for both clubs as they looked forward to stay close to Paris Saint-Germain which is having a fantastic start of the season. At his return in the lineup in almost one month, he scores only six minutes after he entered the pitch, but was forced out few minutes later. Medical exams reveal it is a tear in his right adductor. He will be sidelined for about three weeks.
It took place on Sunday, more than twelve hours before Clarence Seedorf went public with the squad’s name for the games versus Malawi. The manager should therefore has known that the player couldn’t be available for the international call up, but his name was included on the squad of 23 players who are expected to represent Cameroon in those two encounters in October.
The manager should have called upon a replacement before going public with the squad’s names.
As Njie Clinton cannot showed up, he has to be replaced, but the name of his replacement is still not available.
As the national team was preparing for the game against Comoros, Clarence Seedorf called upon a teenager from the Wouri departemental league, who was sidelined several months ago by a severe injury, to replace Felix Eboa Eboa who could not showed up.
Would he do better this time ? Let’s hope so.
