Cameroon’s U-23 side have taken an easy 3-0 win over Rwanda in the their first preliminary qualifier away in Yaounde, counting for the All Africa Games.
Though the Rwandan side started off with a good challenge to their hosts, their spirit dampened when the goals started coming in. Francis Ze got the curtain raiser in the 30th minute.
Two minutes later, Ndzana Kana used his stomach to push an Abada Narcisse free kick that ricocheted on the goalkeeper’s Claude Habimana’s right bar.
Four minutes after resumption, Habimana was injured. Substitute Ramadhan Nkunzigoma had hardly settled when he caused the third goal. He made a short pass to his defender, Jean Paul Habyalimana. Patrick Bengondo intercepted it, but in an attempt to fight for the ball, Habyalimana fouled Bengondo in the box.
Daniel Wansi, from Esperance Tunis made no effort in netting the penalty.
One or two other spectacle deeds from both sides provide the other highlights of the day as the Indomitable Lions recorded a good start in the defense of the African and Olympic title.
Head coach, Ndtougou Mpile Martin went against fans who thought it was an easy game. “No international game is easy to win. And don’t forget we still have the return leg in Rwanda”, he defended his boys.
