Marc Vivien Foe is backing Kevin Keegan’s belief that City can clinch a place in Europe with a top six finish in the Premiership.
City chief, Kevin Keegan insisted that he was still looking up the League to a top six finish despite watching his team suffer defeat at the hands of Newcastle last week.
And Cameroon international Mark Vivien Foe, who is on loan with the Blues from French side Lyon until the end of the season, is backing his boss’s words.
« We believe we can do it, » declared Foe, who has bagged an impressive six goals from midfield. « We can finish in the top six and we know what we have got to do to get there. It exciting to be part of it all. »
« We have had an important few months and I believed how we did in that spell would determine where we finish in May. We have won a few games, now that is all everyone thinks about. We like winning.
« But even when we don’t win, like at Newcastle last week, we always stay together, no matter how difficult things become. We always believe that we can get a goal and this is the most important thing for me. »
The twenty-seven-year-old, who had a spell with West Ham in the Premiership, believes the players have now really gelled together and that the team spirit will help as the season reaches it’s climax.
The Cameroon international won the First Advice Player of the Month award for his commanding performances in December and feels that he too has now really settled in the side.
« Maybe it has taken time for the team to work up an understanding together. I can say, though, we will get better and better, the more we grow. You forget this is the first time a lot of us have played together. »
« I was ready in my mind to play in England again, but it did take a while to get used to it. I would like Kevin Horlock to get a goal. »
« He does a lot for the team. Perhaps people who don’t know much about football don’t see what he does. He does his best no matter what, just like I do. »
The midfielder is hoping to win a permanent stay with the Blues come the end of the season and knows that a top six finish for the side will aid his case.
« I like Manchester and I have found a nice home, where I can relax away from football. Of course, I would like to stay here. I enjoying playing here and living in this city. »
« But it is not for me to decide whether I stay for good. I am here to do my best and I would be very happy at the end of the season if we can finish in the top five or top six. »
« I haven’t really thought about it much but, yes, it would be good for me to continue. I trust the manager and he trusts me. We respect each other greatly. I always make sure that I do my best for him. »
