ALEX FERGUSON is set to sign Cameroon star Eric Djemba Djemba as he starts his Manchester United rebuilding plans. The midfielder from Nantes will cost about £5million. And the United boss will hope Djemba makes as much of an impact at Old Trafford as legend Eric Cantona did when he signed in 1992.
Fergie said recently he felt his midfield needed « reinvigorating ».
United’s scouts have been to watch him ELEVEN times this season in one of their most detailed studies of a player.
The 22 year old is a product of Nantes’ youth set-up and can play in the centre of midfield or on the right-hand side.
He came to Ferguson’s attention last season when he played against United for Nantes in the Champions League.
Djemba gets his fair share of bookings, earning 11 and one red this season. But he is a feared player in France.
Fergie is also in talks to land Leeds’ Harry Kewell for £7million as well as hunting a keeper.
