Mallorca boss Luis Aragones has held clear the air talks with Samuel Eto’o after the striker’s claims he wanted to quit the club. The Cameroon international had stated earlier in the week that he was unhappy and wanted to leave the Islanders when the transfer window reopened in January.
However, Aragones has now met with the 22-year-old and insists that, following positive discussions, the matter has been ‘resolved until June’.
« We are not going to have problems of any sort, at least until June, » declared Aragones.
« He (Eto’o) objected to certain things, the club has other ideas… but I have asked the player that the issue might not give us problems until June.
« Now until June we have forgotten about the problem. They were unfortunate declarations, and came at a bad time.
« I have already told the players that if they have any problem with my arrival I will do everything in my power to resolve it.
« Everyone knows Eto’o. He is a direct bloke who never lies, but he needed to know who was in the right from my point of view.
« Eto’o made a mistake that you can forgive but he didn’t need to have done it, and I’ve told him that if he does it again the punishment will be very severe. »
