CAMEROON hit-man Samuel Eto’o has admitted he is disappointed at his own personal performances at the World Cup.The Real Mallorca star has scored only one goal in the finals in the 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia last week.
Eto’o, who has attracted the interest of Roma and Tottenham, felt he would have a bigger impact than he has had as yet.
« I think I’m in form. I’m working well in training, » said Eto’o
« I will be in the first XI against Germany and I will do my best for us to qualify for the next round.
« However, the fans should know that we play as a team and we all contribute to the victories. It is important for them to recognise what I have done.
« In the game against Ireland, for example, I worked hard to set up Patrick Mboma, who finished well. In the next game, Nijtap did the same for me to get a goal.
« Scoring is not the only thing that matters. It’s unfortunate that people don’t know that. The role of our goalkeeper Alioum Boukar is as important as those who play up front.
« Even the role of reserve goalkeeper Idriss Kameni cannot be neglected, because he must train well to help the others stay in form. »
The Indomitable Lions need to beat Germany in their final Group E game on Tuesday to be guaranteed a place in the last 16 and Eto’o is determined to beat Rudi Voller’s side.
« We are working as a team and we are aware of the worries of our fans. These worries are genuine. So we have to concentrate all our energy to defeat Germany and qualify for the next round to satisfy the fans and ourselves. »
