TOKYO, Nov 13 – Cameroon have named a strong 20-man squad to face Japan in Oita next week, the Japan Football Association (JFA) said on Thursday.
Cameroon coach Winfried Schaefer included 14 of the squad that reached the final of the Confederations Cup in June, including Real Mallorca’s Samuel Eto’o Eric Djemba Djemba of Manchester United and Rigobert Song of Lens.
The African champions are scheduled to arrive in Japan on Monday ahead of the November 19 friendly at Oita « Big Eye » World Cup Stadium.
Cameroon beat an All-Star team 3-1 in a match played on Tuesday in memory of Marc-Vivien Foe, the player who died after the 1-0 Confederations Cup semi-final win over Colombia.
Striker Patrick Mboma, who plays for J-League club Tokyo Verdy, has not been selected despite scoring in that match in Lyon this week.
