African champions Cameroon have confirmed their participation in the 2003 Afro-Asian Games football tournament. Nigeria and South Africa are the other African teams due to take part but Morocco have withdrawn. The Atlas Lions will be replaced by another African side to be named by the Confederation of African Football.
Angola have been invited to fill the void but Caf say there has been no response from Luanda as yet.
The tournament will be played in the Indian city of Hyderabad from 22-31 October.
The African sides will play against four Asian countries – China, Japan, Iran and hosts India.
South African officials have said they will send a full strength side but Japan have indicated they will field an under-23 team.
