Cameroon’s capital Yaounde will be deprived of live football action for six months, following the closure of the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium for repairs.
Games are expected to resume at the ground in December.
The stadium is the home of the national team and hosts the home matches of Yaounde’s four division one clubs – Canon, Cintra, Renaissance and Tonnerre.
International matches previously scheduled for Yaounde have been relocated to Douala’s Reunification Stadium.
Built in 1971, ahead of the 1972 Nations Cup hosted by the country, the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium has fallen into a state of disrepair.
Stadium director Yves Belle said it will cost the government $1.5 million (£1 million) to renovate the ground and settle debts to companies that have provided services to the stadium.
