Cameroon will kick off their World Cup preparations in Japan with a game against a team of high school students near their remote training base in Oita Prefecture, local officials said Thursday.
The African Nations Cup winners will arrive at their camp on May 19 and will try to shrug off the effects of jet lag with a match the following day against a team selected from local high schools.
Cameroon, who play England in a World Cup warm-up fixture on May 26, will face Germany, Ireland and Saudi Arabia in the first round of the World Cup, which runs May 31-June 30.
