Cameroon and football’s world governing body FIFA have compromised on the African champions’ team shirt for the World Cup finals which start in Korea and Japan later this month.
Cameroon won the African Nations Cup in Mali earlier this year with eye-catching sleeveless shirts, similar to those of basketball players.
FIFA wanted to ban Cameroon, coached by German Winfried Schafer, from wearing the shirt at the May 31 to June 30 finals because there was no place for their logo, which usually goes on the sleeves.
A compromise has been reached whereby an extra, almost transparent piece of cloth will be added to the shirts, where the logo can be placed, preserving the sleeveless effect.
