Cameroon could play Brazil in an international friendly in October, after responding to an offer made in July. In a letter signed by the Federation of Cameroon Football (Fecafoot) secretary- general, Jean Rene Atnagana Mballa, they are ready to have the game between 7 and 17 October.
That period is when some Indomitable Lions players will be free from club duties in Europe.
« After consulting the coaches and taking into consideration the availability of our players, we propose that you schedule the game between 7 and 17 October, » the letter read.
The letter did not mention a venue, but did propose that the Brazilians pay a fee of $120,000 for the match.
Fecafoot’s reply requested that Brazil pay for transport, accommodation, food and allowances for 30 people, including the players.
As current African champions, Cameroon have no Nations Cup qualifiers for 2004 and the coaches have told Fecafoot that the team needs a ‘big’ friendly each month.
« These friendlies offer us the opportunities of preparing the Lions for the Confederations Cup next year and the Nations Cup in Tunisia 2004, » assistant coach Joseph Omog told BBC Sport Online.
No reply has been received from the South Americans.
