Cecafa has threatened to discipline the Ugandan Football Association (Fufa) if it does not support Issa Hayatou in the Fifa presidency race.
Fufa president Denis Obua has withdrawn from Cecafa’s block support for Hayatou, prompting a furious response from the federation.
The bribery syndrome has become synonymous with the Blatter administration
President Farah Addo said that he was giving the two Cecafa members who support Blatter – Uganda and Burundi – one last chance to « repent. »
Addo warned they would suffer the consequences if they refused.
« World’s enemy »
« Defiant Cecafa members will be disciplined after the Fifa elections on May 29, » he said.
He said Fufa were supporting the « world’s enemy » in Sepp Blatter, the man who stands against Hayatou.
« The bribery syndrome that has become synonymous with the Blatter administration could attract some Cecafa members, but to their detriment, » Addo stated.
Blatter is called the « world’s enemy » by Farah Addo
But Fufa’s president Dennos Obua denied that the country had revealed itself to be backing Blatter.
Instead he claimed that Uganda would lose out if identified with either candidate.
« Other countries can afford to show which side they support but for us we are still very poor and can not afford to come out openly, » he said.
