REJUVENATED striker Joseph Jop is in great heart ahead of Saturday’s trip to Merseyside. « I am very happy at the moment, » says the Cameroon international, who seems to have taken on a new lease of life in what just about amounts to his second spell with the club. « We played very, very well against Sunderland on Tuesday night and we go into the game against Everton with a good feeling, » he says smiling. « Fortunes can change in football, things can change the way they have for me over the last few months.
« In football there is no logic. I was away for a few months of last season and when I came back in the summer I wanted to leave the club.
« But I’m still here, I have been given a chance and I want to show the manager he is right to put me on the field.
« When you play well you feel good and at the moment I am feeling very well. I think I played quite well on Tuesday, but I cannot sit back and think it will happen all the time like that. I know I have to work hard. »
Job, currently playing his best football in a Boro shirt so far, says the way the team approach games these days suits his style.
« It is a young, fast side. We have a new face in Massimo Maccarone, who plays well with Szilard Nemeth, who is a very skilful player, a quick player.
« It’s true we have a lot of strikers for only two places, but there is a very good atmosphere here between everybody. There is no problem and that is good for the team and good for the club.
« If we keep playing this way I think we will go far in the Premier League. »
