Mallorca midfielder Daniel Kome has agreed a deal to join runaway Segunda leaders Real Valladolid.
The Cameroon international has finalised a permanent switch until 2009 despite the European transfer window being shut. Valladolid, seven points clear at the summit of La Segunda and hot favourites for promotion to the top-flight this term, were granted special dispensation to sign a player after a serious injury to Oscar Sanchez.
They were keen to land Kome during January’s window, but president Carlos Suarez revealed that a deal was not possible at that time. « We wanted to sign Kome last month in January, but we could not do it within the timeframe allowed for signings, » explained Suarez.
« Now, with more tranquillity, we have closed the operation. We were in a position to sign a player and we were not going to lose the opportunity to do so. The injury to Oscar left us in a difficult situation. »
Kome joined Mallorca in the summer of 2004 after an impressive spell at Numancia, but has struggled to establish himself with The Islanders and has had loan spells at Getafe and Cuidad de Murcia over the past couple of seasons.
