Though coaches of the Cameroon football team, the Indomitable Lions can not say for sure how the team will look like in the game against Benin on Sunday, they are sure the team will perform. After a heated training session on Thursday, assistant coach, Paul Ndanga said preparations were going on well and the players were responding properly to the strategies of the coaches.
“We are finalising our game plan and all is going according to plan”, Ndanga said.
Training was animated by a group of anxious fans who were screaming at the players. They either booed a player or praised another depending on the players’ moves and response to the order of head coach Winfried Schafer.
Skipper Rigobert Song appreciated the fans. “The fans like to see us work hard for victories. Let them come out in their numbers on Sunday and encourage us to defeat Benin”, Song declared.
Though the players, all of them working in Europe may not be happy with the pitch, they are ready to over any obstacles to beat Benin.
“We are feeling go, the group is mentally solid and no matter the difficulties, we will produce a good result on Sunday”, Song promised.
The squad is determined to put behind the not to good performance in the 2004 Nations Cup finals and obtain a result that will herald their intention to not only qualify for the 2006 World Cup, but also remain the best in Africa.
