Eric Djemba-Djemba faces six weeks on the sidelines with the hamstring injury sustained in training last week. The Cameroon international is ruled out of all but the last three games of the season, with David O’Leary conceding he is already planning for next term with the former Manchester United man.
Djemba-Djemba has made four appearances for Villa since his transfer-window switch from Old Trafford and admits he needs games under his belt to prove his worth.
But O’Leary today confirmed: « Eric will be out, I would imagine, for about six weeks with the hamstring strain.
« He was bought for the future and I really think he will be a good solid lad for us in the future.
« We’ve got to try and get him into the ways we train and he has to adapt to that. He’s got to come down, get a house down here and settle down with his family.
« After that he can get a good pre-season under his belt and he’ll prove a solid player for us next season. »
