African football legend Roger Milla says he has no qualms with Cameroon captain Samuel Eto’o. Ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Milla accused Eto’o of non-commitment to the Indomitable Lions as compared to his splendid performances at Inter.
Milla, 58, told AFP then that Eto’o had “brought lots to Barcelona and Inter Milan but never anything to the Cameroon team. It’s also a question of discipline. Cameroon is waiting for him to react.”
Eto’o replied, “It is always before tournaments that bitter people wake up. What has he [Milla] done? He hasn’t won the World Cup. They played in a quarter-final [in 1990] and with what a team. They had one of the best teams with some great players throughout.”
Now, months after the global football fiesta, Milla who gained fame with his waist wriggling goal celebrations, tells the press in Cameroon all is well between the two and have both held discussions on Cameroon football recently.
“We do not have any problems. Recently we met and had profound discussions on issues plaguing Cameroonian football. However, there are some people who want to destroy us. I don’t know why, » he said.
“We all have our perception of issues and individual views about them. It is unfortunate that Cameroonians have failed to recognize the values of their brothers. We cannot progress in a society where people are jealous of one another,” he noted.
