ARSENAL defender Lauren has agreed a new three-year contract after committing his career to Highbury. The Cameroon full-back was one of the success stories of Arsenal’s title campaign and has been rewarded with a new £25,000-a-week deal.
Lauren, who was originally signed as a midfielder, nearly left Highbury last summer because he was upset at being played out of position.
But Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has turned him into a key part of his line-up and his success last season means he is no longer looking for another right-back.
Wenger is now likely to make only one more signing this summer as he looks for a midfielder.
Barcelona have been tracking Arsenal’s Brazilian World Cup winner Gilberto but have not followed up their interest with an offer.
