Thousands of fans will pay an emotional tribute to the late Marc-Vivien Foe on Wednesday night. A packed Manchester Cathedral is to stage a memorial service for the former City midfielder who died playing for Cameroon last month.
Canon Paul Denby and club chaplain, Reverend Tony Porter will conduct the service, which will be relayed via a PA to an equally large number of supporters expected to gather outside.
Rev Porter said: « Marc was a much loved figure with players, club officials and fans alike.
« The service will give us all an opportunity to reflect upon this very sad loss and to pay our own personal tribute to a man who contributed so much to our final season at Maine Road. »
Foe was given a state funeral at home in Cameroon, and the City squad are to pay their own personal tribute to a much missed friend.
City manager Kevin Keegan said: « We have a fair idea as a club what we want to do but I want the players to do something because they were close to him. »
