WOLVES are set to continue their recent spending spree by snapping up Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni. The Premiership new boys are set to take the Le Havre teenager on a season-long loan with the view to a permanent move. The 19-year-old excelled for Cameroon in last month’s Confederations Cup, where he was instrumental in their charge to the final, conceding just one goal in the five games.
A number of clubs watched the keeper in action in France, but Wolves are set to win the race for his signature.
« Carlos looks set to join Wolves, » Kameni’s agent Willie McKay told planetfootball.com
« It is a loan deal for the whole of next season with the option of a permanent move for £2 million.
« He was outstanding in the Confederations Cup and a number of clubs have expressed an interest in him.
« He is keen to try his luck in England and is looking forward to the challenge of playing in The Premiership. »
Wolves boss Dave Jones is keen to increase competition for places at Molineux and Kameni will fight Matt Murray for a place in the side. The African will link up with international colleague Modeste M’Bami, who is moving from Sedan.
Planetfootball.com can also reveal that Lommel have denied the Premiership new boys are handing a trial to keeper Mark Volders.
The 26-year-old was formerly with Genk and reportedly caught Jones’s eye, with sources in Belgium indicating he was due to arrive in the Black Country this week.
However, a Lommel spokesman stated that there was nothing in the story.
