French outfit Guingamp have emerged as favourites to end Lucien Mettomo’s Manchester City hell after Wolves failed to land the defender. Mettomo wants to return to France after failing to establish himself in Kevin Keegan’s plans.
He has been dogged by a string of injuries since his £1.5m move from St Etienne in September 2001.
Now Guingamp, who finished the season seventh in the French top flight, have indicated an interest in taking the player back to France.
Wolves are believed to have failed a near £1m offer for the player and have since snapped up Nigerian defender who Isaac Okoronkwo.
Keegan wants Mettomo off his books to pave the way for new signings, while Guingamp are keen to bolster their squad for next season and consider the 26-year-old a fine recruit.
