Frozen out of Real Madrid’s first team, Geremi Njitap expresses his disappointment with the situation.
Cameroon international Geremi Njitap said he was ‘disappointed’ not to get a chance to play a role in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions league semi-final.
« While I was not certain of a shirt for this game, one always hopes to play in matches like that, » the Cameroonian said.
He took consolation in the fact that he scored a goal in Madrid’s previous victory over Bayern Munich.
« My performance in that match shows the manager he can rely on me. »
Geremi, who played in Cameroon’s last match against Austria in Vienna, has been short of match practice with Madrid this season.
Expectations
He had been linked with a possible transfer to English Premiership side Chelsea.
Despite his absence from the Real Madrid side, Geremi had nothing but praise for the efforts of his team mates.
« We were very strong in defence. We played a very serious game and were not made nervous by the atmosphere surrounding the match. »
The Indomitable Lion is looking forward to playing in the Champions League final but he knows that Barcelona will seek to turn the tables in the second leg.
« We still have to play the second match at home.
« Things are looking very good for us but we expect a very aggressive Barcelona next time. It’s all or nothing for them now. »
